Poor Tom! Young 13 year old boy, it is the 7th child of his family, the 7th son. And it's not an enviable position, since money is scarce, and every mouth to feed weighs on the family, who must find where to place each child in learning.
For Tom, it will Spook. A dangerous and difficult job, that people fear.
Tom's mother tells him that 7th son of a 7th son, he is more talented than others and will be the largest existing Spook once its finished learning.
Tom, little reassured, so get going with his master to learn his future career.
But soon, disasters accumulate and Tom will have to show great courage to overcome the trials that await!
This book was given to me by Megh, Reading Club, during the round of Christmas books in 2010. It is almost a year ago in my library! ^ ^
I finally decided to start, and I was positively surprised.
Already coverage. I see happen in my hands beautiful blankets, and this one drew me the eye. Looks like an old diary with a relief surface imitating leather. Simple, but effective, it goes well with the story it protects!
The story is original. A little slow to get up, spend the first 50 pages, the action really sets up and held in suspense until the last minute.
The plot is beautifully done. Not a single second I doubted myself who was possessed. I first thought Alice, then Ellis and Jack. Even the father of Tom!
And so I was really surprised by the ending!
Tom is very endearing. A child a little fearful pressed by his entourage of an apprenticeship of the most terrifying and dangerous! And that is what makes this very interesting story: see Tom changed, despite his fear, successfully gather enough courage to face the worst abominations!
I would read Volume 2 with great pleasure, even that whether Tom will overcome his learning and what will become Alice!
