Children of Paranoia by Trevor Shane
Rule one: we do not kill the innocent
Rule two: do not kill enemies under 18 years
For centuries an illegal war, ignored the common man, between two ancient clans tear on behalf of Good and Evil. Both sides: the assassins brainwashed and trained from childhood to hate and destroy the enemy camp. Artists of concealment, they makeup their murders random acts of violence: a business that curiously never resolved.
Joseph, twenty years, is one of these elite killers. Immersed in the brutality since its birth, it knows that a reality: kill or be killed. But at a meeting in New Jersey, he fell into an ambush by the enemy. Narrowly escaping this deathtrap, Joseph fled to Montreal where he met Maria, a young innocent sixteen. For the first time, its cold and unforgiving spirit falters. If he wants to save the woman he loves, he must abandon the life that he has always known and the people who fought at his side. Dare he break the rules and protect a life other than his own? One truth remains: the first kill is the last to survive.
All wars have rules.
If you violate, you become the target.

Pfiiuuu! What a book! The title is scary, the novel is just as.
It follows Joseph, a professional killer in that war between two clans for obscure reasons.
According to people who have trained Joseph, they are the good, the other evil.
This war is subject to several rules that Joseph understands and accepts without question.
But soon he has an encounter that changes everything for what he believes.
One thing bothered me, in my reading, but without spoiling my pleasure does not understand why such a bloody war. At no point does the author gives information about the origins of the conflict. Only rumors reach us, but have failed to make me forget my feeling that all these murders are stupid and senseless.
I even have a theory more in the paranoid mind. To know that no two clans, but a man, Almighty, who laughs good looking people and killing just for his pleasure.
For if Joseph and his friends think is good and the other evil, I imagine others think the opposite, that eventually confirm the reading of the book.
Such an absurd war, with strange and bizarre rules strictly enforced by all leaves me quite dubious and intrigued ...
Maria brings a rather interesting perspective. Being of some clans, it has a rather objective view of the situation, even if it chooses to listen to Joseph for love ...
The end, it is simply tuante! The novel ends on such a suspense! I wait to see what will happen in the beautiful Maria, and revelations that it promises for the future!
The writing is smooth, efficient, rhythmic. No rest, a lot of violence emerge from the story and kept me in suspense until the last line!
This book is aptly named, and for that alone, I urge you to find out. You will also find yourself doubting everything, and you wonder what it is exactly. And you will come out like me, frustrated and full of the most paranoid as each other theories!
