I discovered this series when it was released, and rediscovered recently.

This first volume tells the story of Nicole, a young French woman who became, after the revolution, lady companion for selfish English aristocrat Bianca.
One day, she is kidnapped and shipped to America, where the groom waits Bianca.
This one will discover the mistake and will have to discover for himself that his heart beats.

Nicole is the kind of very endearing heroine: brave, proud and resourceful. It runs from France to escape the revolutionaries eventually companion, then found in America to lead a prosperous plantation that will make yet with little means.
But Clay, it is very annoying. I had to repeatedly urge to slap him to give him ideas in place. This is the kind of stubborn and narrow-minded man, who thinks he knows everything and goes into his stupidity to the last extremity, as he does not want to admit his mistakes.
Nicole is nice to support this man!

The story itself is not very original. Two people should not have to meet, falling in love, until a third person (Bianca) come to the bazaar and when all seems hopeless, the happy ending.

Still, I had a great time reading. Already because I found a lot of humor, with some characters.
Secondly, because the pen of Jude Deveraux is smooth and addictive, and the pages are devoured in no time.

This series is still quite naive and simplistic romance, excellent to soothe the soul without taking the head
